Vent-Free Gas Products Alliance Kicks Off Clean, Green Campaign PDF Print E-mail

Arlington VA. – October 6, 2010 – While it may still feel like summer outside, Americans will soon be reaching for their thermostats inside their homes to keep their family warm and comfortable. To educate consumers about the clean, green home heating options in the marketplace, the Vent-Free Gas Products Alliance Section (VFGPAS) of the Air Conditioning Heating and Refrigeration Institute  (AHRI) has kicked-off a campaign to tout the many benefits of vent-free gas appliances.

Consumers will soon find an updated website, with a new section to help them determine the right type and size product for their home, as well as information about the energy efficiency, environmental quality and safety features of vent-free gas space heating products.

Dealers of vent-free gas products will receive materials for distribution to their retail partners to assist them in informing consumers about the benefits of vent-free gas products.

The campaign also will feature a media outreach campaign, including news articles in English and Spanish and radio interviews across the country.

“Our products are extremely efficient and economical to buy and use, helping consumers save energy and money with reduced heating bills. This is an opportune time for us to highlight these key product benefits,” said Sue Walker, chairman of the Vent-Free Gas Products Alliance. “Additionally, vent-free appliances are fueled with natural gas or propane--two of the cleanest fossil fuels available.”

Vent-free gas heating appliances--such as fireplaces, logs, stoves, inserts and wall heaters--are modern, cost-effective and easy to install. Because they require no chimney or vent, a vent-free gas system is less expensive, much faster and easier to install than other types of heating systems. And since they don’t operate on electricity, they will continue to provide a reliable heat source when power outages might otherwise leave homeowners cold.

In addition to saving money and energy, vent-free gas products have a remarkable safety record. These products have been available to consumers for more than 30 years, with more than 20 million units sold.

“As with any gas appliance, proper installation, basic care and regular maintenance are recommended,” Walker concluded.
